Its education and research programmes are distinguished by their multidisciplinary, problem-oriented approach and social relevance. The university offers students a range of educations in five faculties: Culture and Society, Education and Society, Health and Society, Odontology, and Technology and Society.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Faculty of Culture and Society<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The Faculty of Culture and Society is a multidisciplinary faculty that includes the School of Arts and Communication (K3), the Department of Global Political Studies, the Department of Language and Linguistics, and the Department of Urban Studies.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">School of Arts and Communication (K3)<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">K3 is a multidisciplinary school with approximately 80 employees and 1000 full-time students. The school&#8217;s education and research deal with media, design, art, culture and society and it plays an important role in the \u00d6resund region&#8217;s cultural life. K3 conducts transnational education at the bachelor&#8217;s and master&#8217;s level as well as PhD programmes within the research area New Media, Public Spheres and Forms of Expression.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">PhD programme in Media and Communication Studies within the research area New Media, Public Spheres and Forms of Expression<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The PhD programme prepares the candidate for a research or teaching career in academia as well as provides professional skills for work outside the academic field. Aims of the Media and Communication programme include: the experience of collaboration with other researchers, critical and scholarly engagement with both traditional and\/or contemporary discourses in the field of Media and Communication, and establishing a national and international contact network. Decisions regarding employment of PhD students can be found in Higher Education Ordinance 5 Chap. 1-7 \u00a7\u00a7. The PhD student is expected to actively participate in the research and teaching environment.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The aim of the PhD programme is to develop the knowledge and skills required for the PhD student to independently conduct research and thereby contribute to the development of knowledge within the project. The PhD programme is worth 240 higher education credits (equivalent to four years of full-time studies).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Eligibility requirements<\/span> <\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">The general requirements for third-cycle (PhD) education are that the student has<br \/>\n1) received a second-cycle higher education degree,<br \/>\n2) completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are second-cycle, or<br \/>\n3) in some other way, nationally or internationally, acquired equivalent knowledge.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Special requirements for the position are knowledge and skills corresponding to<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">a second-cycle degree (master) in media and communication studies or in another subject that is relevant to media and communication studies (such as communication for development)<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Special requirements can also be fulfilled by demonstrating equivalent knowledge that has been acquired in some other way, nationally or internationally.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Basis of assessment<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Initial assessment concerns<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">the general and specific eligibility requirements<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">(above).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Further, according to Higher Education Ordinance 5 Chap. 5 \u00a7, importance is placed on<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">the student&#8217;s ability to appropriate the advanced learning<\/span> <span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">of the third-cycle PhD programme. The previously written material and the dissertation plan are important indicators of this ability.
